Colloquium Series - Debra Pentecost and “Visual Expression of Community, Connections, and Home"

As part of the Arts and Humanities Colloquium series, Prof. Debra Pentecost (Media Studies) will present “Visual Expression of Community, Connections, and Home” on Feb. 13, 10-11:30am, in Malaspina Theatre. A classic David-and-Goliath story meets housing precarity, this timely project is a collaboration between Prof. Pentecost and the Creekview Housing Co-Operative; in response to Vancouver City Planning’s plans to destroy the co-op and replace it with a high-rise complex, the collaboration used their photos and stories to capture and convey their experience of community and their fight to keep it. 

The 50min lecture will be followed by a Q&A session, with refreshments offered in the theatre lobby. Admission is free.
